Life through the eyes of a balcony

While taking a break from school yesterday, Noah was on the balcony and noticed something "white" running across the concrete drive. He yelled at us to come and look ... and sure enough, it looked like some prehistoric creature jet-setting across the courtyard. Elizabeth stood guard on the balcony watching its every move while the rest of us ran down to check it out a little closer ... with the camera in hand. We ended up drawing quite a crowd as we tried to get it out of the bush that it had climbed into. It eventually came out and by this time, several others had gathered around. We're guessing we finally wore it out as it started running a little slower. We noticed it kept changing colors, so we were pretty sure that what we were seeing was a chameleon. We asked a couple of the guys that were standing near us and sure enough, one of the guys said it was a chameleon.

A little hard to see here but it is now green and is in the center of the picture under a tree branch.

It then put on its brown/gray clothes ... it was about 10" long!!

You can see it starting to turn brown ... what an amazing picture of the Father's creative hand. How can anyone deny Him as the Creator???

Elizabeth and Maria were tickled at the sights they were seeing ... 4 white people chasing after a lizard while the nationals watched with delight! :)

After the "field trip" was over, we met 3 of the men who take care of the lawn and the gardens. One man was picking up trash while the other 2 were cutting the grass (notice there are no lawn mowers ... the grass is cut with scissors).

On the way back up, we ran into one of Emma's favorite workers .... she, without fail, will pinch Emma's cheeks and then kiss her fingers. No wonder Emma's "vain streak" comes up now and then. She is affectionally referred to as "the girl will golden blonde hair." (of course, her hair is brown and on this day, it doesn't look like a brush had seen her hair.) :)

This was the scene from the balcony a couple hours later. The boys are always coming up with something .... and here, they were apparently discussing using the gardener's water hose as a "tug-of-war" rope!

Guess you can pick out Noah from the crowd ... he ended up being the anchor!

And a couple more hours after the tug-of-war scene, this is what we saw from the balcony. The sunsets are one of our favorite things here and today was no exception. We are thankful for His goodness and we are thankful for the things He lets us see from the place we call "balcony."
