Life around our home

We've been back for a little over 2 weeks now and have slowly settled back into our lives here. In a city full of so much despair and emptiness, we are so very thankful and blessed for the family He has put us, for the home He has put us in, for the neighborhood He has put us in, and for His Kingdom that He will one day put us in. These are some shots taken in or around our home. The first one is of Noah and a couple buddies playing DS.

One day this week, Elizabeth and Emma decided to have "craft day" out on the balcony!!

On a recent walk, we saw this ... a man painting a building while sitting on a man-made "painter's swing" that is being held up by another man holding the rope. Talk about faith in your fellow brother!!

And then we see this sight ... a man changing out what we're guessing is a street light. We haven't seen any utility buckets here, but this guy proves that all you need is a ladder ... a really tall ladder!!

Just outside our gate, you'll find where the guys in the family get a haircut for about 60 cents!!

This is where most of our bank business takes place ... our local ATM!!

This is our chemist friend, Kumar (they aren't called pharmacists here but rather chemists)!!

This is the dentist we will go to for our next teeth cleaning....you walk into the building and you're right there in the "room." We've met with her a couple times and really like her.

A walk around our complex....we love, Love, LOVE the flowers and greenery!!

The tennis courts are close to being finished.....

Phase 2 .... not quite finished. It's amazing how they actually build these things!

Two guys putting up the wire fence around the perimeter....

This is the "field" where Noah and his friends play cricket everyday ... for now anyway. It'll be a wading pool when finished.

We've seen signs that offer horse-riding lessons but never knew where it was until recently. This is the "horse stable/riding arena" behind our complex.

One of the many coconut groves around us.....
The "up high" work is done in these motorized lifts.

Emma's playground....

We saw this man reading the paper while waiting on someone....

These "pods" are all over the place, each leading to the underground parking garage....

We haven't played yet, but this picture looks down on the squash court ... much like racquetball but with a smaller racket and a smaller ball.

The pool ... it hasn't opened yet but should be soon!!

Our friend, Ramilinga, who manages the bowling alley. The big thing for the kids is to get 4-5 friends and bowl for about 20 cents a piece.

This is where we go when we get REALLY motivated!!

On our way up to our flat, we ran into our friend who had her baby while we were in the states.

The next few pictures or shots of the many different modes of transportation we use, starting with the auto rickshaw!!

The taxi....

The bus ... although this isn't exactly the bus we take but very similar.

And with Elizabeth being old enough next year to get her learner's permit, we even have a truck (no worries, family ... only a photo op!). We still take the taxi, the auto, the bus, etc., but we are enjoying having the Qualis on those days when we need it. Another blessing, for sure....

And of course, we still use the best transportation invented! The best way to make connections and build relationships is to get out and walk around. We speak often to the Father about those meetings that He has planned for us. Thank you for speaking the same thing.
