Fossil Rim Safari

We've wanted to visit Fossil Rim in Glen Rose since we first moved here but haven't because of the price. When we found out about "half-price Wednesdays" in May and June, we decided this week would be the week to drive over and check it out. What an an incredible experience it was to watch the animals walk right up to the van and eat out of our hands.

Genesis 1:24-25 - "And G*d said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. G*d made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And G*d saw that it was good."

These pictures are kind of like zoo pictures...you know you're taking way too many when you're taking them, but it was so hard to resist.

We had fun watching the boys in front of us as well...

Emma at the wheel...she loved everything about it (until the ostrich got a little too close).

Noah's turn at the wheel. These next guys weren't shy in the least....

Such diversity in His creation...

Some of our best friends, Richard, Maribeth and Gabi, spent the day with us. We all piled up in our van around 9:30 this morning and started the safari around 10:45. We stopped around the halfway point and ate lunch at the cafe, browsed the gift shop and then visited the petting zoo. We have gotten so used to having the Gambills in our lives and are already dreading having to say goodbye. We are thankful, though, that He brought them to Southwestern at the same time He brought us ... and we are thankful for the memories He created for us today.

The zebra and the giraffe ... two of His many perfect designs.

The cheetah ... and the rhino
We finished off the bag of food on our way out with the ostriches...

Thank You, Father, for this day!!
