This is a homemade compass....we used a magnetized needle in a piece of cork and floated it in water. It really works!
The next project may be one of those that you might say "Kids, don't try this at home!"
We began by melting chocolate, but very quickly Noah was trying it out on dead leaves.
This project was a way to understand how radar works. I made some mountains and valleys in a box using newspaper and plaster of paris. Once it was dry, I covered it with 'cloud cover' and the kids used a color coded bamboo skewer to map out the depths on a grid. They were able to discover the tallest mountain and the lowest valley. Now maybe we have a grasp of how we can know the topography of Venus using radar!
