We are deeply saddened by the loss of Stacee, our children's minister from Woodland Heights, who died from cancer last night. Please pray for her husband and two children. She was a precious woman and friend and loved G*d with all her heart. She will be missed greatly. And what great comfort we have in knowing that she is pain free and rejoicing with our Lord.
Thinking about the children is what breaks my heart so deeply...the same for other sweet ones with the loss of their daddy to lung cancer, and more sweet ones with the loss of their daddy to a heart attack. I know G*d's thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours and its impossible to understand how it is that some people have so much more time on earth than others. But one thing for sure, it challenges me to want to make the most of the time that G*d does give us on this earth, because it will be over in a blink. Who does He have for me to teach, or encourage, or serve? What purpose and plan does He have for me specifically? How can I join Him in the kingdom work that should be our greatest purpose aside from knowing and walking with Him? It reminds me of the little book A Life G*d Rewards by Bruce Wilkinson and the scriptures from 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Je$us Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames."
I have complete confidence that I will be saved and with my Lord in heaven, but oh how I long for the quality of my work to survive the test of fire....to be as gold, silver, and costly stones....an offering to my Lord.
Stacee is surely with our Lord, and she surely has much work that will survive that test of fire, and she will surely hear those precious words "Well done, my good and faithful servant." May we all be challenged to live our lives in like manner, honoring our creator who chose to give us life on this planet, and who will, in His perfect timing, choose to take us home.
