It isn't Father's Day, it isn't his birthday, and it isn't our anniversary. For no particular reason I just want to praise my man! He's the one with the gift of words and writes wonderful long 'epistles' as many call them to a fortress of prayer warriors. He works so very hard at his job and enjoys the fellowship and respect of his coworkers. On top of his full time job, he is working on his Master's degree here at seminary that requires 3 times the total class hours of a regular master's degree. His practicums require that he spend an extra 2 hours a week to freqent local places to shine the light of Christ. Somehow, after working full days and going to school, after working to read a pile of books and studying pages upon pages of notes, after going to the library to research and working on one paper after another, after serving at church in AWANA and ministering in the lives of the neighborhood boys, after dedication to exercise by running nearly 5 miles at at time, somehow he still finds the time to be the best husband and father that we could ever ask for. He loves his family deeply...his parents taught him that very well. He pushes the kids on the swing, goes on walks, takes them to fun places, tells them funny stories that he makes up in his head, tucks them in each night with prayers to our One True God. He is never too proud to say he is sorry when he should. He models Christ as he stands firmly on the truth of the Word of God. He leads our family without wavering on this path that is wholly directed by God. He would be the first to tell you that he isn't perfect, but God doesn't require perfection. God requires our hearts to be trusting, teachable, and obedient, and that he is. Nearly 18 years ago, I prayed for God to show me the man He had for me. He showed me Steve. I had no idea at that time what a journey we would be in for, and what a ride it is! I am so thankful to be on this journey with my bestest friend in the world.

Wow - what an awesome tribute to your man!
What a beautiful tribute to my precious son. What more could a mother possibly want than to know her son is loved so much. You are truly a beautiful person, my sweet 'daughter of my heart, a wonderful mother to my grandbabies and a special helpmate to the best son in the world. We were so lucky the day Jennifer brought you to our home. I can't imagine anyone else fitting into our family the way you have. You have embraced Poppie and me with all your heart and loved us unconditionally. Sometimes it's hard to remember which one of you I gave birth to. You are one special lady, Joanna Marie, and always know I love you so much. MOM
