We are driven by either the comfort the world can give us or by the absolute love of Christ that will drive us outside of any earthly comfort of the world.
The search for comfort is a driving force.
When COMFORT becomes our motivation, we will miss our callings.
How afraid are we of pain? Discomfort? Being hurt? Suffering? Looking foolish? How attached are we to our comforts?
What would happen if the motivation of comfort was removed altogether from our decisions?
Things at stake if we stay attached to COMFORT:
1. We will live in a rut of relational disaster.
We make people responsible for our comfort.
When we decide to make ‘somebody’ our comfort, they will disappoint us every time.
Only God can give us the kind of comfort that we truly need.
2. We will sign up for a life of addiction.
We make a substance or a thing responsible for our comfort.
The whole basis of our addiction is the obsession for comfort.
It is a false comfort and always produces guilt.
God’s comfort produces grace and fills us with the courage and power we need to cope.
3. We will miss the greatest adventures of our calling.
Do we ever wonder why we are stuck in the rut of life we are in?
Do we have willingness to leave & go where God is calling us to go?
Are we driven by such a love of Christ that we can leave every comfort behind to know the adventure of truly knowing and loving Christ?
God is much more interested in my calling than my comfort.
We just have a little while on this earth – lay it down and live an adventure with God.
4. We will miss the very comfort of Christ.
If we had found a human savior that really worked for us, we wouldn’t need Christ.
We can know the length and depth of the comfort of Christ. We can know His presence and His help. Reach out and say “Come get me Lord. I need You.”
