The conference that we attended last week was exactly what He knew we needed. We had a great week learning from some of the most amazing people who have served and are serving on the front lines. We also had the opportunity to see a wonderful tribute to an early worker who really helped pave the way...such a great passion to shine the Light in darkness.

We got to spend many hours in the library researching and studying our future place of service. We learned so much here and gained an even deeper insight to our new friends we'll one day be working with.
We also got to visit our temporary home where we will be living for a short time...peace all around!!
Yes, this is the "kitchen"...but don't worry, we won't have to cook while we're here.
Our bathroom (just kidding, but they do have this "squatty potty" available at certain locations on campus for those who want to practice...we didn't). And yes, some places don't have western toilets - thankfully we will!!

The kids will be in class learning how to live cross-culturally while we do the same in our classes. Their school is amazing and led by teachers who have a passion for helping equip children who will be living afar. We are blessed to have this kind of support.

We've been without pets for 18 months now...the first thing we saw when we took the tour was fur, hair, feathers, and fins. This will be a highlight for all the kids!!
This is Richard, the parrot that supposedly talks...but not really????
The kids were more excited about THIS than anything...an endless supply of 16 different kinds of cereal in the dining hall. There's also an upright, sliding glass door refrigerator with all the chocolate milk one kid could possibly drink. If you know our kids, chocolate milk is high on the priority list!!
For those who have been to our home, you may remember seeing the life size figures of these statues below on our campus.
We connected with some of the most incredible people and developed forever friendships with others who are also going out. We feel so blessed that He worked it out for our hearts to be weaved together with these new friends. Thank You for friends!!
And just like that, the week was over. He taught us much and took us to a new level of awareness as to why He has us doing what we're doing. Please continue to remember our family as we prepare.

What an amazing place!!!! The pictures are so pretty. Was glad to get to see them, especially the places where the kids will be learning. It sure makes it more real to me. Sad but happy at the same time....does that make any sense??????? Mama

Makes me want to go to Richmond, if only to see Lottie's things...I LOVE Lottie!! And don't be too sure about the cooking thing...I seem to remember hearing something about learning to cook a chicken from scratch. As in scratching the ground and clucking. ;) You'll have to ask Angie; I could be wrong. Looks like fun, anyway!
Reminds me of going when I was young for different meetings. I've visited that place, but my parent's training took place in Georgia at Calloway Gradens...I still remember those three months and the experiences I had with other future MKs. Exciting times!

Loved seeing the pictures of our old "home away from home". I actually received lessons there on how to prepare a chicken - from plucking the feathers to cutting it up. Thankfully I've never had to kill and pluck my own chicken. I do occasionally cut one up, but you can do that in America.
When will you go to the "farm"? I know you are getting so excited.
We were there last year for some training and my kids toured the board offices and my daughter was the most impressed with Lottie's trunk!
